Shaw/Brown Trophy

Saxilby Golf Society’s August fixture saw a return to the picturesque Grimsby Golf Club for the Shaw/Brown Trophy.
With the course in pristine condition scoring was expected to be high and a close encounter was anticipated.
However it turned into a one horse race and a dominant display from Secretary Keith Hardy whose score of 43 points gave him a seven shot victory. Runner up was Ron Hersey whose 36 points [20 back nine] edge out Steve Leachman 36 points on card countback. So the Secretary retains the Shaw/Brown after last years win at Grimsby.
Nearest the pins on the day went to John Reed on the second, Keith Hardy on the 6th and 13thwhile Steve Leachman got nearest in two on both the 3rd and 18th. Two balls on the day went to Graham Flint on his return to the fairways after hip surgery and Hardy who completed a very successful day.

The Society move on to a new venue for the September fixture when we will be visiting Rutland Waters Golf Club on Friday 15thSeptember. Ernie Dyson will be looking to retain the Secretary’s Trophy he won at Phoenix Golf Club in 2022.
