How time fly’s with the 17th year of the John Armstrong Trophy completing another season for Saxilby Golf Society.
Lincoln Golf Club was the setting where John played his golf and an excellent turn out of Members sat down for the pre match breakfast.
With Torksey in pristine condition the Members took to the tee in pursuit of glory. This years event was sponsored by Code Ease Computer Programming and we thank MD Michael Billson for there kind support of this event.
Once again the Competition was very competitive and Lee Hayward came out on top with 39 points and his first ever John Armstrong Trophy win. His last five holes scoring a third of his points. It was certainly tight for a podium finish with Neil Houghton continuing his good season with 38 points and a back nine of 22 to take 2nd place from Jake Benson on card countback. Andy Ecelson took 4th place from Alan Maddison also on countback. The nearest pins on the day went the way of Lee Hayward, Alan Maddison, Terry Atkinson and Clive Dixon while 2 balls came the way of Captain Geoff Rippon, Neil Houghton, Terry Atkinson and Andy Ecelson.
So the end of another season that has seen seven different winners in the seven competitions played throughout the season. A thanks to Captain Geoff who over the last two years has took control in what has been a difficult time for one and all.
The AGM and Trophy Presentation will take place at the Anglers Hotel on Sunday 7th November at 7.30pm.
The New Captain Neil Houghton will take over the reigns when the Society return to the L.G.C. for the Annual Whiskey Stagger on Friday 19th November.
