John Armstrong Memorial

Saxilby Golf Society’s final fixture of the 2022 season saw the annual John Armstrong Memorial Trophy at the Lincoln Golf Club.
It was unbelievable to realise this was the 18th year of the Trophy played in John’s Memory.
With the L.G.C. in excellent condition and rapid greens scoring was very good and only 2 points separated third place to ninth.
At the conclusion of play it was veteran Bob Marsh with 39 points who took 1st place. David Thorpe returned to form after a lean spell to claim the runners up prize with 37 points while Geoff Rippon claimed the final podium place edging out Jonathon Sankey, and Ron Hersey on card countback all scoring 35 points. Jake Benson claimed the only two ball of the day while nearest pins went the way of Ernie Dyson on both the 6th and 12th and Simon Hayes on the 17th while the prizes for the nearest in two on the 5th and 14th went to Jake Benson and Captain Neil Houghton respectively.
The players retired to the Anglers Hotel for refreshments and prize presentation and reflect on an excellent season under the captaincy of Neil.
The Society would once again like to thank Landlord Wayne and his staff at the Anglers for the excellent buffet and serving our needs. Also our thanks to Michael Billson MD of Code Ease for sponsoring the days prizes. Very much appreciated by us all.
The AGM and Presentation Night is in the Lounge at the Anglers Hotel on Sunday 6th November at 7.30pm
