Treasurer's Trophy

I can say after 33 years of running the Golf Society this must have been the worst conditions and weather I have witnessed. As to why the course was not closed only the host club can answer.
I will forward some photographs later.
As regards to todays Treasurer’s Trophy kindly sponsored by Harrison’s Printers { i’m sure Bob was glad to be in Portugal] and thanks to Bob and the team for there support.
On a normal day scores would be expected to be high but it seemed Michael Billson was to only player to master the atrocious conditions to take 1st place with 35 points. David Thorpe was a distant 2nd but 30 points playing off 9 was no mean feat on the day. The final podium place went the way of Martyn Lynes whose back nine of 15 points was the best score of the four players with 29 points.
Nearest the pins went the way of Jim Welch [2] Simon Hayes and David Thorpe. Not surprisingly no two balls were made.
Vice Captain John Brogan presented the prizes to the days successful golfers in the absence of Captain Clive Dixon,
We wish Clive well and hope todays operation was a success.
We turn our attentions to our first ever visit to Garforth Golf Club on Tuesday 2nd May when the T.C.Maddison Memorial Trophy will take place.
We thank T.C.Harrison [JCB] and MD Robert Wilson for kindly sponsoring the day.
Look forward to seeing you all on that day and hope we have all dried out by then.
