Saxilby Golf Society made to short journey to Rufford Park for the Inaugural T.C .Maddison Memorial Trophy.
How fitting that we had a turn out of 30 Members and two guests who took to the tee in memory of Terry.
The parkland course was in excellent condition as Captain Neil Houghton hit the opening drive.
Scoring was excellent with 18 players scoring over 30 points and only two points separating third to eleventh so the Captain had a busy time finalising the places on countback.
Gary Benson took third place on countback with 36 points and a superior back nine from debutant Simon Hayes. Chairman Graham Flint and Michael Billson also scored 36 points. Runner up on this occasion with 37 points David Thorpe also had the distinction of claiming three of the nearest the pins on offer. The other two went the way of Captain Neil Houghton and Michael Billson.
Sometimes fate seems to happen and the Winner of the T.C. Maddison Memorial Trophy was probably the person who played golf with Terry the most.
The Inaugural winner being Secretary Keith Hardy with 40 points who also had the only two ball of the day.
After a meal in the clubhouse Mr Flint resided over the fines before another of the Captain’s repartees before the presentation of prizes to the days successful players.
The Society’s May fixture sees the Annual Members Cup at Lincoln Golf Club on Tuesday 24th May. Once again we are grateful to Just Audi VW who are once again Sponsoring the Competition.
