Lincoln Golf Club was the setting for the Annual Mike Scott Trophy the last fixture of the 2023 season.
It was a poignant moment for the Society to remember Mike before they took to the 1st tee.
Once again the Society were indebted to the Saxilby Traders Association who once again sponsored the event.
Next years Captains chosen Charity Prostrate Cancer to which John has a connection with.
With conditions a vast improvement from last months visit to the L.G.C. scoring was expected to be high and this was certainly the case.
At the conclusion Jonathon Sankey with an excellent score of 41 points took the honours to claim the Mike Scott Trophy close behind being Michael Billson [39]who completed a successful 2023. The final podium position went to one of our octogenarians in Ernie Dyson who defied his years to score 38 points beating Keith Hardy on card countback. It was certainly tight at the top with Alan Maddison, David Thorpe and Bob Marsh all scoring 37 points.
Nearest the pins went the way of Thorpe, Gary Benson, Neil Houghton, Sankey and new member Steve Gilliat.
It was also nice to see Ally Pykett join us. Ally was a member of the Society before moving to reside in Norfolk in 2003.
The Member retreated to the Anglers to raise a glass to Mike and have the Presentations which included a few fun prizes.
Our thanks to Wayne for putting on an excellent buffet and Fran keeping us in liquid refreshment.
With this being our final fixture of 2023 i would like to take this opportunity in thanking all our sponsors for there support and generosity.
Outgoing Captain Clive will be handing over a cheque to his chosen Charity St Barnabos of £550.
Have a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
